Ahuriri Estuary Walking Track

A relaxing walking trail through Ahuriri Estuary the easy grade boardwalk stretches 2.8 kilometres one way and is filled with impressive flora and fauna. The area is home to an abundance of wildlife with over 70 waterbird species living in and visiting the area frequently. The boardwalk taks visitors past flocks of birds and amongst some dense greenery. Dogs are allowed on the trail however they must be on a leash at all times. Unfortunately mountain biking isn't allowed on the wakling trail around the lower estuary, but the NZ Cycle Trail takes riders close to the trail to viewing points.
